Acorn Group Announces Child Brain Injury Trust as Charity of the Year for 2026
Published: March 2026

Acorn Group has named the Child Brain Injury Trust (CBIT) as one of its charities of the year for 2026, marking the start of a year-long partnership to raise awareness and vital funds for children and families affected by childhood-acquired brain injury.

The partnership reflects a natural connection between the work of both organisations. Road traffic incidents remain one of the leading causes of childhood-acquired brain injury in the UK, and supporting people affected by road accidents is central to Acorn Group’s role as a specialist motor insurer.

The idea to support the Child Brain Injury Trust was first put forward by colleagues in Acorn’s Large Loss claims team, who regularly see the real-life impact road traffic accidents can have on individuals and families. The charity’s mission to provide practical support, information and guidance to families navigating life after a child’s brain injury resonated strongly with teams across the business.

Throughout 2026, colleagues across Acorn Group will take part in a wide range of fundraising and volunteering activities designed to support CBIT’s work and raise awareness of the support available to families across the UK.

Kicking Off the Partnership

The first major fundraising event will take place on Sunday 5 July 2026, when Acorn colleagues will host a charity football day at Marine Football Club in Crosby, Merseyside.

More than 100 colleagues have already signed up to participate in two 11-a-side matches between Acorn offices, with the day expected to run from late morning through to the afternoon. The event is designed to be a family-friendly day out, featuring activities such as a children’s penalty shootout and face painting, with all proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the Child Brain Injury Trust.

Supporting Safer Roads and Stronger Communities

Acorn Group reaches thousands of drivers across the UK through its portfolio of customer-facing brands, including Acorn Insurance and Carrot. This reach provides an opportunity not only to support CBIT financially, but also to help raise awareness of the charity’s work and promote safer driving.

In particular, Acorn’s Carrot telematics brand, which encourages safer driving behaviours, aligns closely with the Child Brain Injury Trust’s efforts to reduce the number of children affected by brain injury caused by road traffic incidents.

A Shared Commitment

Paula Hampson, Head of Claims Contact Centre and member of the Acorn Group Charity Committee, said:

“Our colleagues in the Large Loss team first put forward the Child Brain Injury Trust as a charity of the year, and it was easy to see why. The work we do every day supporting people affected by road traffic accidents connects closely with the support CBIT provides to children and families. We’re proud to be supporting them this year.”
