Acorn Group has expanded the reach of its telematics-based motor insurance brand, Carrot Insurance, by joining the Quotezone comparison platform. The move strengthens the group’s presence across comparison channels and supports its strategy to make telematics products more accessible to younger drivers seeking affordable cover.
Carrot Insurance, Acorn Group’s digital-first motor insurance brand, uses telematics technology to reward safer driving through data-led pricing and ongoing customer engagement. By joining Quotezone’s panel of insurers, Carrot policies will now be visible to motorists comparing insurance options through the platform.
The partnership comes at a time when young drivers face some of the highest insurance premiums in the market. As a result, demand for telematics-based policies, often referred to as black box insurance, has grown significantly, particularly among new and younger motorists looking for ways to reduce their premiums.
Industry data suggests that around two-thirds of drivers aged 18–25 now choose telematics policies over traditional insurance products, with many reporting annual premium savings of up to 20%.
Strengthening The Acorn Group’s Telematics Strategy
The addition of Carrot Insurance to Quotezone reflects the Acorn Group’s wider investment in telematics and digital-first insurance solutions. In 2025, the group acquired telematics business MyPolicy to strengthen its capabilities in the young driver and low-mileage segments.
Telematics products continue to gain traction in the market, with research indicating that 61% of young drivers are likely to take up a telematics policy at renewal. The approach allows insurers to price policies more accurately by analysing real driving behaviour, while rewarding safer driving with improved renewal pricing.
Dan Ward, Telematics Director at Acorn Group, said the collaboration with Quotezone will help more drivers find telematics cover quickly and transparently.
“Quotezone is set to play an important role in helping young drivers access and compare insurance options quickly and transparently. Making Carrot available through these platforms supports our strategy to provide affordable premiums and support safe driving via black box insurance.”
Ward added that expanding across comparison platforms ensures Carrot can reach customers actively searching for more affordable cover, while encouraging safer driving behaviour.
“Each customer that buys a Carrot policy via Quotezone joins the thousands of drivers across the UK who are committing to drive safely in return for reduced premiums at renewal.”
Supporting Safer and More Affordable Driving
Telematics-based insurance is becoming increasingly important as accident rates among younger drivers remain relatively high and repair costs continue to rise across the industry. In this environment, telematics provides a mechanism for insurers to incentivise safer driving while maintaining competitive pricing.
Quotezone, which serves more than four million customers annually, allows drivers to compare quotes from a wide panel of insurers through a single platform.
Greg Wilson, Founder and CEO of Quotezone, said advances in telematics technology have helped make these products easier for drivers to use.
“Once customers try telematics products, two-thirds are satisfied or very satisfied with the financial savings.”
He added that newer solutions often integrate directly with drivers’ smartphones, simplifying installation and giving motorists greater visibility over how their driving behaviour can influence premiums.
Expanding Access Through Comparison Channels
For Acorn Group, the addition of Carrot Insurance to Quotezone represents another step in broadening the availability of telematics-based cover to drivers who may benefit most from it.
As demand for telematics continues to grow among younger motorists, expanding distribution across comparison platforms ensures Carrot remains visible where customers are actively searching for more affordable insurance.
By combining digital-first insurance products with telematics insights and wider comparison platform distribution, Acorn aims to help more drivers reduce costs while promoting safer driving habits across the UK.
