We are thrilled to announce that Acorn Group has acquired Atlantic Pavilion, a landmark Grade I-listed former warehouse on the historic Royal Albert Dock.
Built in 1846, Atlantic Pavilion offers 81,000 sq ft of premium office space, providing a fantastic new home for our growing workforce. This iconic building sits among some of Liverpool’s most famous landmarks, including the Royal Liver Building, Cunard Building, and Port of Liverpool Building, making it a key part of the city’s rich mercantile and maritime heritage.
With open-plan workspace across basement, ground, and five upper floors, it is the perfect environment to inspire our people and drive the next phase of our growth.
This acquisition builds on our strategy of investing in heritage office locations across Liverpool, already owning Mersey Chambers and the renowned 12 Hanover Street as part of our estate, alongside our purpose-built HQ, The Lighthouse in Formby.
Commenting on our latest acquisition, Danny Keating, Acorn Group Chief Operating Officer, said: “As a growing business the acquisition of Atlantic Pavilion provides premium office space in the heart of the city, adding to our already extensive heritage estate.
“But this is much more than just an office, it’s part of the heritage and foundations of the city which we’re very proud to call our own. We are a local business, employing over 1000 people from across the region and are passionate about investing in the city and communities in which we operate.”
Mike Lloyd, Acorn Group Chief Executive Officer, added: “Investing in this iconic building is an exciting milestone for us. We are a growing, ambitious, and energetic Merseyside-based business. We were founded in Formby and are now one of the largest employers headquartered in the region. We want exceptional office spaces with real character for our teams to work out of — while continuing our strong commitment to Liverpool.
“By choosing Atlantic Pavilion in the Albert Dock, we’re embracing a lot of history and character while giving our teams a very special modern office environment. Our Group tag line is ‘Business Unusual’ and our new office will absolutely reflect that.”
Atlantic Pavilion is a significant feature of Liverpool’s distinctive Grade I Listed Royal Albert Dock Estate. The Dock was the first structure in Britain made entirely of cast iron, brick, and stone, with no structural wood, making it the world’s first non-combustible warehouse system.
We are one of the UK’s largest providers of non-standard insurance, with 500,000 live policyholders and over 1,400 staff across Formby, Liverpool, and London. Through our brands — Acorn Insurance, Carrot, Motorcade, Flag, Rapid, and Briefly — as well as Granite Underwriting and our network of 200 brokers, we continue to innovate and expand our presence.
